McNiff, Thomas J, 70, of West Milford, NJ passed at 2:30 pm on April 21st, 2017. Although born in New York City, his family moved to Cranston, RI where he spent many childhood years enjoying the New England waters. The final family move was to Cresskill, NJ. He attended Edward H. Bryan School and Tenafly High School.  After graduation, he attended Missouri State University in Kirksville for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1967. In 1970, he married a Cresskill girl, Rosemary (nee Linden), who joined him in Newport, RI until his discharge. His genuine, charismatic nature propelled him into a successful career in sales. The prominent companies he worked for were Rite-Point, Bunn-o-Matic Coffee Makers, and Gaeta Recycling.  Family was the cornerstone of his life. In 1975, he set down his roots in the small lake community of Lindy's Lake, West Milford. Here he nurtured, loved and played with his daughter, Megan Kate (Griffin), and his son, Sean Thomas. Friends and family were lured to the lake front cabin by his sense of humor, warmth, and the excellent cooking of “Chef Tomas”. Tom's spirit (alias Tommy T and Mac) will surely be making his daily rounds to the local diners for his cup of tea.  In 2014, he was blessed with his first granddaughter, Shannon Griffin. They became best buds. On March 16th, 2017 he was blessed again. This time, he welcomed a grandson, Hunter Thomas, who he held in his arms. How proud he was to have his name passed on. His death will leave a void that his family is determined to fill by following in his footsteps.  Funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Church , 454 Germantown Rd, West Milford, NJ 07480 at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 13th. All are welcome to join a celebration of life to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Market Street Mission, 9 Market St., Morristown, NJ.
