Asper of Clifton, NJ passed away October 17, 2009 at Van Dyk
Assisted Living Facility, West Milford, NJ. She was predeceased by her
husband Joseph Arnold Asper in 2001 and a daughter Kathleen Hale Dulow
in 1999. Born in Clifton, NJ, she was the daughter of George and Edna M.
Kesselring. One of five siblings, she attended Passaic High School where
she played basketball. Mrs. Asper was a secretary for 25 years at the
State Office of the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey. She was a
lifetime member of Calvary Baptist Church, Clifton and past president of
the Women’s Mission Society. In her affiliation with the church she
was a teacher, superintendent and board member of the Calvary Christian
Education Department. Mrs. Asper was the Coordinator of the
"39-ers" Senior Group, a member of the Richfield Chapter of
AARP and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Society. Moving to
West Milford, NJ in 2000, Mrs. Asper initiated a series of archiving
activities for Bald Eagle Commons, including photo albums, community
history and social events. Among her favorite pastime activities was
playing Scrabble, a game at which she excelled. In addition, Mrs. Asper
was devoted to her Sewing Club, an organization whose social activities
included group travel, rotating dinners, regular and special parties and
gatherings. Her club has been in operation for over a half a century.
Surviving are a son Jay A. Asper and his wife, Karen of Dingman’s
Ferry, PA, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A private
memorial service, celebrating her life will be conducted at Calvary
Baptist Church, Clifton, NJ at a future date. Contributions may be made
in her name to a charity of one’s choice. In accordance with her
wishes, there will be no visitation and cremation will be private.
