| Emma D. Merselis, age
90, formerly of Cape Cod and Hawthorne, NJ passed away on December 18,
2009. Her husband, G. Clark Merselis and a daughter Lorraine Lewis Brown
predeceased her. A son Garret
Merselis and his wife, Nancy of Vernon, NJ, granddaughters Sarah Lewis,
Taren and Kaylene Merselis, a grandson Daniel Merselis and a sister Vera
Bibbings of Acworth, GA survive her. Emma
graduated from Eastside High School in Paterson, NJ. She served as
church secretary for 16 years at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in
Paterson. Upon moving to Hawthorne, she raised her family and was an
active member at St. Clements Church and the Hawthorne Fire Department
Ladies’ Auxiliary. She and Clark
retired to Cape Cod in 1986, where they became members of St. David’s
Episcopal Church and enjoyed many church functions. A
Memorial service celebrating her life will be held at St. David’s
Church in 2010. Interment of her ashes will be in the memorial garden
alongside the church. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St.
David’s Episcopal Church, 205 Old Main Street, South Yarmouth, MA
02664. Her loving memory will be with us always.
