Gallagher II, John Edward, a longtime resident of West Milford, NJ passed on May 6, 2017 after a long struggle with cancer. He was a Korean War veteran and was proud to have served in the U.S. Navy.  Born in Newark, NJ. He moved to Paterson, NJ in 1938.  He attended Eastside HS.  After his time in the service he chose a career as a draftsman, designer and supervisor of engineering/drafting/CAD systems for Kearfott Guidance & Navigation of Little Falls, Totowa & Wayne, NJ.  In his retirement he spent 28 years working for Steigle Hardware in West Milford, NJ.  He was the founder and President of the West Milford Menís Golf League, which just celebrated itís 50th year. And a member of the Wallkill Valley Golf & Country Club.  John was predeceased in 2012, by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Smallwood Gallagher.  John was also predeceased by his mother, Helen Harnick-Sturgis and sister Gloria Gallagher-May.  He leaves his son John Gallagher III of West Milford. His son & daughter in law Gregory & Christine Gallagher of Greenwood Lake, NY. His daughter Charlene Iannaci of Inverness, FL and his daughter & son in law Tracey & Anthony Galluzzo of Hamburg, NJ.  There are 9 grandchildren.  Gregory (deceased), Cassandra, Garrett, Ryan, Anthony, Nicholas, Shannon, John IV and Dorothy.  He also leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews, and many beloved friends. Many called him PopPop Gallagher and he was recognized by his handlebar mustache. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will take place at the West Milford Presbyterian Church, 1452 Union Valley Road, West Milford at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 17, 2017.
