Bonnie Porcelli, age 67, passed away in Hewitt, NJ on November 18, 2017
surrounded by her family. She was a beloved mother and sister, having
been survived by her two daughters, Meghan Porcelli of Cranston, RI and
Christie Anne King of Arlington, VA. She was also survived by her loving
sister, Terry Verblaauw of
Hewitt, NJ, who cared for Bonnie during her struggle with cancer.
Bonnie was born in Paterson, NJ to Lena and William Foy on June 12,
1950. She raised her two
daughters in Bethel, CT for over 15 years before retiring to Lady Lake,
FL. Her greatest desire was to see her daughters become successful and
independent. She raised them alongside ex-spouse, Lucian Porcelli of
Danbury, CT, with whom she had 12 years of marriage. Bonnie was able to
celebrate both her daughters gradating college and her oldest, Christie
Anne, be married this past fall. Having been known to brag about her
daughters to any passerby, Bonnie was able to rest to knowing her
daughters continue to make her proud. Bonnie was an avid gardener and
left each of her lawns more beautiful than when she found them.
Friends and strangers would make a point to stop when they would
see her outside to remark on how beautiful they were. Her dedication to
her gardens and home, not only set a high standard for the neighborhood
but inspired even the least likely of green thumbs.
In addition to sharing her gift of gardening with others, Bonnie
touched many people with her warmth, large heart and charisma. She made
new friends wherever she went and could start a conversation with
anyone. Many will surely miss her. She is also survived by her sisters Mary
Ann Smith of Greenwood Lake, NY, Marjery
(Hubbard) Lee of Tinton Falls, NJ, Debra McMahon and Diane Geary of Rosewell, GA, and her brother Paul Foy of
Fair Lawn, NJ. Her mother and father, and brothers William and
Greg Foy predecease her. Bonnie will be laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre
Cemetery in a private burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made
to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
